Setting Up the Field

After setting up the big board, take the box labeled Effect Decks. Open it and separate the cards based on the number of they have. Shuffle each deck and put them into the correctly numbered zones in the middle of the big board.

The smaller boards are for more than 2 players.

Afterward, each player chooses one of the other boxes labeled Species Deck. Separate the cards by the different backs. Set the 4 environments face up into your environment zones. Shuffle the unique trait effect deck and put it in the unique trait effect deck zone. Then shuffle the species deck and put it in the species deck zone.

Now each player needs to get their opening hands. First, find out who is going first. Then the first player draws a card from both the effect decks numbered 1 and 2. Then that player draws 3 cards of their species deck. Then the player going next does the same and the next player until all players have a total of 5 cards in hand.
